"Luminaire" - Spatial Construction

The third year of the introductory design course Spatial Construction continues to explore unit-field relationships, geometry, scale, movement, with forms drawn from nature and then implemented into the design of individual luminaires. Students were required to balance the functionality of the object (luminescence) with a rigorously developed tectonic logic and material specificity. Limitations of structure, weight, and even thermal performance were negotiated throughout the process.
